Show Salt Lake City, Utah Editor, Uintah Basin Record and Roosevelt Standard Dear Sir: On the 2 June 1952, we suffered suf-fered the tragic loss of our only child, Richard Fouse Jessee, by drowning in Lake Fork Rive:-, in the vicinity of Arcadia. Immediately after it was discovered dis-covered that he had fallen in the river, word was passed around to the residents of the surrounding communities. Scores of people voluntarily stopped their daily labors to participate in the search for the lost child. Practically every one of them brought some type of equipment to facilitate the search. Many of the women came up to the ranch to offer any kind of assistance possible. The child was not recovered , the first day and search was suspended until the following morning at daylight. The next morning a driving1 rain was in progress. In spite of this, an even greater number of persons in the community had turned out to participate with every kind of search equipment available. avail-able. Recovery was made on the morning of the 3rd. I have not had the pleasure of meeting all the fine people who came to our assistance when it was so greatly needed, so I am writing this letter in the hope that you will convey it to all the fine people of the Uintah Basin. If it were possible I would come around and personally per-sonally thank each and every one of you. To all of you fine people who participated in the search and recovery; to all of you who so generously offered other assistance; assist-ance; and to those of you who offered your condolences, my wife, Mrs. Beth Fouse Jesse, j and I, and the child's grand-1 parents, Mr.' and Mrs. Ernest ! .Fouse, offer our thanks for all ' that you have done.
