Show teetch-Sennett Mission Is Over, Came With Friends Lynn Haslem, son of Bishop John Haslem, has just returned from a mission for the L D S Church. He labored in West Virginia, Kentucky, and the latter lat-ter part of his time was spent in Tennessee. He was accompanied home by Mr. and Mrs. Richardson, their two daughters and a son, whose home is in Decauterville, Tennessee. The Richardsons have been members -of the LDS Church for several years, and the mam reason for their trip to Utah is to visit the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, where they will receive their endowments. The nearest LDS church is 35 miles from their home. BENNETT WINS GAME The baseball game which was to have been played at Bennett had to be played at Roosevelt, since the Roosevelt City, water pipes are still stored on the ball diamond. The game, played between be-tween the Randlett Braves ar.d Bennett, ended in the tenth inning in-ning with a 5-4 score in Bennett's Ben-nett's favor. . Mrs. J. W. Wardle and Mrs. Evans, of Springville, were Sunday Sun-day visitors at the home of Win-fred Win-fred Long. Billie Haslem and his father, Clair Haslem, took Billie's 4-H Club calf to the Junior Livestock Live-stock Show in Salt Lake last week. He sold the calf there and was awarded a calf for the coming year. These award calves are given by various groups and will be delivered Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Coltharp are spending a week in Salt Lake City. The president of the stake issued is-sued a call Sunday for men to go to the relief of those people living on the Green River near Leota, as the river is high again. It' is said that white man has never seen the river so high Among those excused from church were Garr Bolton and Douglas Phillips. Twin girls, Joy and Janetta Bellon, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bellon, of Salt Lake City, spent the week visiting Lorraine and Beverly Long. They especially liked the swimming swim-ming in the canal. They said that where they live everything is on a commercial basis, but here swimming was "free for nothing." in the fall. Until then the boys will not know who is sponsoring sponsor-ing them. While at the Show, the boys were entertained at Lagoon La-goon and had a banquet. They also were entertained at the show grounds with a vaudeville show. Billie says the boys are always royally entertained while there. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dillman, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Houston and Jay Larsen were transacting I business in Provo last Thursday. Ray E. Dillman was in Roosevelt Roos-evelt Thursday evening on his way from Salt Lake to Denver. He has been given a new car for official use in the mission field and accepted delivery of it in Salt Lake Cits'. Douglas Phillips, having- completed com-pleted his year at the University of Utah, has returned home for the summer. . -f I Mrs. Delbert Horrocks has taken the infant son of Vergine Longhair to care for until arrangements ar-rangements can be made for someone to take it, the mother having died three weeks ago. I There was a quilting party j held last week at the home of ; Mrs. Delma Long, under the direction di-rection of the work leaders of! the ward. Mrs. Winfred Long and her father, J. P. Rudy, attended funeral fun-eral services for Richard (Dick) Slaugh at Vernal last week. While in Vernal they visited with friends of Mr. Rudy, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Bastian and Mr and Mrs. A. T. Johnson. Roy Springer, ditch rider on the Leeton Canal, has been confined con-fined to his bed with flu. Lorna Houston Hemingway is home again after having spent two weeks in Provo visiting her sister, Mrs. Carl Lindley. I |
