Show Starts Today . . Duchesne Co. School Opening Set, Conferences Are Planned Pre - school conferences and meetings that are necessary to be fully organized when school bells ring and youngsters leave! their familiar swimming holes and fishing streams, started today, to-day, Aug. 27, with a lunch-workers lunch-workers conference at Union High School beginning at 9 o'clock. The conference will convene two days Aug. 27-28. On Monday, Aug. 31, Supt. Dean C. Christensen, of Duchesne Du-chesne County Schools, is calling call-ing all custodians to a meeting at the board office in Duchesne at 10 a.m., where they will receive re-ceive instructions necessary to do their jobs better. Then, that same evening at 8:15 at the Duchesne Du-chesne High School, all bus drivers in the district will be advised ad-vised of their duties and responsibilities. respon-sibilities. On Wednesday, Sept. 2, principals of the district will meet at Duchesne High at 9:30 a.m. in their first meeting of the year. The final pre-school meetings are those set for Sept. 4 and 7, when faculties will meet with their principals in the respective schools for further fur-ther advice, council and to arrange ar-range programs and schedules for. the coming year. An opening social for all teachers, lunch workers, bus drivers, custodians, board members, mem-bers, veteran instructors and partners is scheduled for Duchesne Du-chesne High School at 8 p.m. The next morning, Tuesday, Sept. 8. registration and class instruction will begin. A very comprehensive schedule sched-ule and school calendar for the 1953-54 school year has been announced by Supt. Christensen which follows pretty much the same pattern as other years. In his schedule he lists the dates for meetings of the school board, principals' meetings, teachers' workshops and various holidays some to' be observed by school dismissal, but most (Continued on back cage) School Opening . . . School will close for Utah Educational Ed-ucational Association Institute in Salt Lake City on Oct. 8-10; Thanksgiving, November 26-27; Christmas vacation Dec. 23 to Jan. 4. Observed in the 1953 - 54 school calendar is the fact that on Dec. 2 Precinct No. 1, North Roosevelt, Neola, Montwel and Cedarview, will select a school board member for a 5-year term. The incumbent member is Marion Harrison, of Neola. Supt. Christensen announced Monday that the Duchesne county coun-ty school list is complete and that a full list of assignments will be made next week. Of course there is still time for teachers to change their minds and seek greener pasture, if such are to be found. In submitting his calendar for 1953-54, Supt. Christensen has announced the matter of fees for all grades and all schools as follows: First grade through sixth grade, a 500 fee will be charged each student, and this will be used for ly-ceums, ly-ceums, shows, etc.; in the secondary sec-ondary division. 7th to 12th. a $2.00 laboratory fee will be charged, which will pay the miscellaneous fees including school papers, films, etc. and a $5.00 activity fee for senior high schools with less amounts for junior high schools the amount to be set by the faculties. |
