Show Ward Reunion Is Grand Success j The annual ward reunion was ! held Thursday evening. Feb. Lt V j ...... irvvori hv a record ana waa tujuj.- number. A banquet was served with the tables being set up in the basement. The meal was under the supervision of Mrs. Minnie Angus. Barta Jenkins Beatrice Lundberg and Eunice Cook. The girls of the ward assisted as-sisted with the serving. During the evening a short program was given as follows: vocal solo, Earl Gardner; jokes, Cecil Jenkins; saxophone solo, Larry Larsen, accompanied by JoAnn Todd; organ and piano duet, Barbara Hullinger and Jo-Ann Jo-Ann Todd. . Dancing was enjoyed, with the Ballard orchestra furnishing the music. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Smith and family, of Neola, have moved to Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young, of Von Nuys, Calif., spent several days last week visiting at the home of Mrs. Young's parents, Mr and Mrs. E. C. Coston. They were here to attend funeral services ser-vices for Mrs. Bert Young at Avalon. Ferris Winn and his brother struck and killed a horse near Artesia Colo., last week. The Hi-Land truck they were in was damaged, but neither of the men were injured. The Primary officers and teacher's entertained the grade school children Thursday afternoon after-noon A chicken dinner and other refreshments were served. Mr and Mrs. Alma Collins, of Salt Lake City, were in attend ance at the'ward reunion, iney are former ward members. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham Bing-ham visited at the home of Mr. I and Mrs. Lyle Young at Mt. Emmons Saturday. Mr. Bingham is Mrs. Young's brother. Ballard Primary officers and teachers were very well represented repre-sented at the Stake Primary convention at Roosevelt Satur day afternoon. Russel Todd was a speaker at the funeral services held for Mrs Thelma Wall Young at Avalon Av-alon Tuesday, Feb. 20. Several of the ladies from this ward sang with the Singing Mothers. Several of the young folks of the Roosevelt Baptist church held an outdoor party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Swisher Tuesday evening, February Feb-ruary 20. Mr. and Mrs. Mariner Mc-Mullln Mc-Mullln and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walquist, of Randlett, attended the Ballard ward reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Winn, of Neola, were callers at the home of Mrs. Effie Winn and Mr and Mrs. Earl Gardner on Sunday afternoon. Clifton Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jenkins, broke a bone in a knee while playing basketball last week at Alterra. Garry Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner was absent ab-sent from school several days last week because of illness. La Von Seeley, son of Mr. and Mrs A. W. Seeley, of Salt Lake City spent the past week-end with relatives and friends at Ballard. , Mrs. Issac Ross, of Park City, is visiting here with her family. , Mrs. Earl Gardner worked in the Alterra lunch room two days last week. . Bernard Larsen and his son, Larry, left Monday morning on a business trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Noble Clark, of Salt Lake City, paid a short visit recently at the home of Mr and Mrs. L. E, Clark. The Alterra seminary, under the supervision of Principal Wendell Johnson, held their Seminary declamation talks at Ballard Sunday evening. The students taking part were Gwen and Afton Bodily, of Gusher, Lela B a r 1 1 e 1 1 and LaWanna Glines, of Tridell; JoAnn Todd, Norman Angus and Ensign Clark, of Ballard. Barbara Hullinger Hul-linger played a piano solo, and Marie Eldredge a trumpet solo. Judging the declamation contests con-tests were Mrs. Electa Caldwell and C. Brian O'Neil, of Vernal, and Garr Bolton, of Bennett. i Prizes went to Gwen and Afton Bodily. A large crowd was in attendance, with many visitors from other wards. ' |
