Show To Improve Show .... Fair Board Votes To Construct Buildings The Duchesne county fair board held its first meeting since being reorganized recently at Duchesne last Saturday evening, eve-ning, with Chairman Howard Ivory, of Roosevelt, conducting. Those attending were Mr. Ivory, Louis A. Jensen, county agent, Roosevelt; Mrs. Adaline Anderson, Ander-son, Talmage; and Herb Clark, Duchesne, secretary. Other members of the board not present pres-ent were Deon Spencer, Neola; William Foy, Duchesne; and Marvin Michie, Tabiona, representing repre-senting the county commissioners. commission-ers. Appearing before the board to make a detailed report of a meeting of county fair managers and directors was Max Hart-man, Hart-man, Duchesne, manager of the 1951 fair to be staged at Duchesne Du-chesne next fall. He recently attended at-tended a meeting in Salt Lake City which was directed by J. A. Theobold, state fair manager. man-ager. Main purpose was to correlate cor-relate dates of county fairs and to discuss ways and means of making the various fairs more effective. Mr. Theobold advised Mr. Hartman that he would make a personal trip to the Basin Ba-sin to assist with any problems they might have that he could assist in solving. According to Mr. Ivory, the purpose of a county fair, as reported by Mr. Hartman, is to ' educate the people to the various vari-ous programs being attempted in the county to improve the agriculture and livestock industries. indus-tries. This year a training school for the fair committees will be conducted with trained people to assist in schooling the men and women who are directing the program The area training school is scheduled to be held at Heber City on March 23, from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. ,:. A decision was reached at the Feb. 24 meeting to construct an additional building at the fair grounds to exhibit livestock, and possibly 4-H club products. Participating Par-ticipating in these projects will be the county, Duchesne city, civic organizations from Duchesne Du-chesne and the fair board. Mr. Jensen advised the group that the Extension Service of the U.S.A.C. would send a trained man to assist in the lay-out of the buildings. The next meeting of the fair Board will be held at the Roosevelt Roos-evelt city building on Monday, March 5. |
