Show Salt Lake Lawyer leads State's P.larch Of O.mes A Salt Lake City attorney and business leader has been named as the 1957 March of Dimes Chairman Chair-man in Utah, Basil O'Connor, President of the National Foundation Founda-tion for Infantile Paralysis, announced an-nounced Sherman P. Lloyd will coordin-. ate the fund raising activities in 29 counties during the annual drive for polio funds in January. "We are fortunate in having the kind of leadership which Mr. Lloyd can provide in Utah during this important stage of the fight against polio," Mr. O'Connor said. , "This is a time when we dare not relax our efforts or we shall certainly cer-tainly lose valuable ground." In making the appointment Mr. O'Connor noted the rising incidence inci-dence of polio in Utah as evidence that the problem is very much with us." In accepting the appointment, Mr. Lloyd outlined the respsonsi-' bilities of the March of Dimes to the people in Utah financial assistance as-sistance to past and present polio victims, essential research and training of professional personnel. Mr. Lloyd, a native of St. Anthony, An-thony, Idaho, graduated from the Utah State Agricultural College and George Washington University Univer-sity Law School. Since 1940, Mr. Lloyd has been Secretary and Council of Utah Retail Grocers Association and Editor of the In-termountain In-termountain Food Retailer. He is a member of the Utah State Senate Sen-ate and a Director of the Utah Society for Crippled Children and Adults. |
