Show 4 RURAL DELIVERY By Arvin L. Bellon Roosevelt Postmaster If you happen to be one of the patrons in the Roosevelt area who has a post office box at the post office where you pick up your mail this item is for you: A much-traveled man from Missouri, Mis-souri, recently apprehended, has admitted robbing post office boxes in at least five state of thousands of dollars in checks. His method was to make regular visits to the lobbies of various post offices and try to open all the post office boxes. A large number of not-to-careful persons had negelected to make certain that their boxes were securely locked after they had gotten their mail. As a result, the theif had no difficulty in stealing numerous checks. We hope no one will try this stunt at the Roosevelt Post Office, but we would caution all box holders to double check their boxes box-es to make sure they are securely locked before leaving the office. We find many boxes every day that are carelesly left open with mail exposed. As a convenience to post office box holders, the lobby of the post office is open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Love Letters Did you know that in Venezuela Vene-zuela the Post Office accepts love letters at half the usual first-class rate, provided they are placed in special bright red envelopes? If the same regulation were in effect here there probably would be a colorful collection of missives passing through the post office. |
