Show City Ordinance Assesses Cost Of Improvements A city ordinance became effective ef-fective today, levying and assess-sing assess-sing a tax on property owners in Special Improvement District No. 2 for curbs, gutters and sidewalks recently completed at a cost of more than $170,000. The ordinance provides the amount of payment and provides that property owners may take up to 10 years to pay the balance, with interest at 5 per cent per annum on the unpaid balance. They may also pay the amount off quickly quick-ly at a great savings in interest. The city pays a portion of some of the curb and gutter work, but the entire cost of the sidewalks and driveway paving and curbing is assessed to the property owners. The total cost of the project incudes in-cudes payment to contractors and payment of all city expenses in- volved in engineering, mailing of notices and other costs. |
