Show Meningitis Case Reported By City Physician A case of meningitis has been reported for Roosevelt by Dr. John Bourne, city physician. The stricken patient was hospitalized hos-pitalized in the Roosevelt hospital hos-pital on Wednesday night for Isolation Is-olation and treatment. Meningitis which Is a highly contagious disease was described describ-ed by Dr. Bourne as being preceded pre-ceded by a common cold, the cold giving way to a severe headache which will not respond to the us ual headache remedies. The incubation in-cubation period for this disease is from two to ten days, and .according .ac-cording to Dr. Bourne is probably prob-ably transmitted by coughing and sneezing. To prevent the spread and contraction con-traction of meningitis persons are advised to use precautionary j measures when in contact with individuals who are coughing 1 or sneezing. Although the disease is most prevalent amoncr children, chil-dren, adults frequently fall prey to the contagion. |
