Show Commercial Club To Fete Basin Cattle Men At Stockmen's Roundup Discussions Planned As Aids To Cattle Industry; Field Demonstrations Scheduled A high class program planned for beef cattle growers of the Uintah Basin will be a feature of the Stockmen's roundup scheduled sched-uled for Roosevelt, Saturday, March 23. Immediate and future problems of cattle growers, together to-gether with discussions on how to meet the problems will constitute consti-tute the major topic of the roundup round-up talks.and will be supplemented supplemen-ted by the introduction of subjects sub-jects relating to the improvement of cattle herds in the Basin. To Promote Cattle Raising The Stockmen's roundup, inaugurated in-augurated in the interest of Basin cattlemen and the cattle industry is sponsored by the Roosevelt commercial club with the extension exten-sion service assisting. Its objective objec-tive is to promote cattle raising as a business in the Uintah Basin. Lynn Orser, chairman of the commercial club's livestock committee, com-mittee, has issued an invitation to all persons interested in the cattle industry, asking them to be present at the roundup and to participate in the program. The meeting which will be held in the Roosevelt ward hall has been set for 2:00 p.m., March 23, and will embrace the following subjects:: "Summer Grazing Problems Pro-blems and Erosion Control on the Forests", Parry Plumber, U.S. Forest service, Ephriam experiment experi-ment station; "Livestock Feeding and Care," George Henderson, U. S. A. C: "State and Local Cattle Cat-tle Improvements and Future Possibilities," George Henderson. U. S. A. C; "Parasite Control and Livestock Improvement," Dr. C. L. Jones, U. S. Bureau of Animal Industry. " ' Demonstrations Planned At 4:00 p. m. the meeting will adjourn to witness livestock demonstrations dem-onstrations to be held at Winter-ton's Winter-ton's corrals at Roosevelt. Thir late afternoon event is under the direction of H. L. Allred, and will cover a two-hour period. The field demonstrations will include the following: livestock grading and culling of cows and bulls George Henderson, U. S. A. C: rgub, lice and liver fluke control methods. Dr. C. L. Jones, U. S. Bureau of Animal Industry. Eveninq Session To Be Held The American Legion barracks will be the scene of the evening's session which will get under wav at 7:00 p. in. with an invitational banquet, the Roosevelt Commercial Commer-cial Club acting as host. The banquet is for Commercial Club members and invited stockmen stock-men guests only. Following the banquet further discussions of interest in-terest to cattle growers will be held. Speakers of the evening and their subiects will be: "Agriculture "Ag-riculture College Program and the Cattle Growers," Ray E. Dill-man, Dill-man, Board of Trustees, U. S. A. C; "Brand Inspection Service for Protection of the Cattle Industry," Indus-try," Don E. Kennev, livestock commissioner, State Department of Agriculture; "Livestock Shows and Cattle Imnrovement." Clem Schramm state association of livestock shows and member of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. Committee members from the Roosevelt Commercial Club who have the Stockmen's roundup in charge predict that it will be one of the biggest days in the year for Basin cattlemen. Topics named nam-ed for discussion have been carefully care-fully chosen, with authoritative speakers presenting them. In the interest of cattle improvement and for the future security of the industry all Uintah Basin cattle growers are being urged to participate par-ticipate in the events set for March 23. |
