Show Producer's Livestock Market News On January 10th the government govern-ment made the announcement that effective January 29th that an over all ceiling on live cattle and calves would be forced. The ceiling at Chicago would be $18. per hundred for cattle grading AA. There are many other additions ad-ditions to this order, including a provision for increased subsidies to killers on good and choice grades, as well as an increase in I the price range on these grades; penalities to killers for paying more than the maxium price range on cattle, based on their average price per month; and setting a maxium percentage of good and choice grades that any slaughterer can slaughter or deliver de-liver in a monthly period. From the foregoing, it is evident evi-dent that this new regulation, which becomes effective January Jan-uary 29th, permits price improvement im-provement over prevailing lev-Icls. lev-Icls. This, in itself, should help I to bring about more orderly marketing mar-keting during the next two weeks at least. The top is far from $18. at Chicago at the present pres-ent time, but the added subsidy of $1.00 to killers on choice grade after January 29 should encourage it to be paid before long, as should the added subsidy sub-sidy of 50c on good grade help prices improve on them. Sub-siders Sub-siders to killers after January 29th will be $2.00 on choice grade and $1.95 on good grade, live weight basis, with an additional addi-tional 80c per cwt. to non-processing killers. 1 All interests; the government, J packers and consumer group, agree that there is not nearly enough beef now or in prospect. Orderly marketing will be good for all interests, especially the cattle feeder. When information is received regarding our local ceiling price we will advice you.
