Show SOUTH PACIFIC VETERAN AWAITS ASSIGNMENT Marine Cpl, James H. Davenport, Daven-port, son Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davenport of Myton, is one of the veterans of jungle fighting, who has received further training train-ing at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Wearer of two Presidential Unit citation awards and the Purple Heart, Cpl. Davenport nevertheless has just completed training at the infantry and Browning automatic rifle school at the west coast training command. com-mand. He has been thoroughly instructed in the latest developments develop-ments of jungle and atoll fighting. fight-ing. Cpl. Davenport, a native son of California, enlisted in the Marine corps at Los Angeles, July 29, 1941, and served 29 months overseas, being stationed station-ed at Guadalcanal, New Hebrides, Heb-rides, New Zealand and Hawaii, Ha-waii, and participating in the battles of Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He is now awaiting another an-other assignment to an infantry battalion. |
