Show Thanks, Clipper let ; The folli'R ,c,ler was wr,,,-'n ' Jhn Sluhlc Jr., publisher of re,' (he Davis County Clipper, by a long-time friend now living in a k? luburb of Chicago. v!V; You probably don't remember me and it has been years 5 since I met you and your lovely wile in the ward. I have v. heen in the newspaper business myself in the Chicago area and have now retired but 1 always feci a kinship to Utah Cn and the Clipper. Chicago has been good to me but the cold 3f jsmiscrable. Don't complain about your winters here until vou've been back east. aii-1' I AM leaving this weekend to go back after three weeks V1. with my daughter and her husband. I called the Clipper but i' you weren't there so 1 wrote this and hope you find it helpful- The Clipper is a better newspaper than I remember i(tc. when I lived in Bountiful. I am very impressed by the !efe- varietv of news and features for a weekly newspaper. In the Chicago weeklies I've been with we have nothing like Cyclops (I never stopped laughing on the First to Com- plain article) or the News and Views column by Gary Blodgett. These are missing from most papers throughout S tnis country. The hometown weddings, babies and mis-i mis-i . sionaries are still part of our Clipper but the opinion pieces f make it a lively and interesting newspaper and a real public : service to your readers. I wish Chicago had something similar. ( CONGRATULATE your staff and yourself on a good newspaper for all age groups. i Pardon me for being windy, at my age I have a right to be long winded. Hope you are well and things are going well with your family. I INCIDENTALLY another story well written was the f People ("Bryan") on Norma Clark Larsen. r Joe Pemberton |
