Show NSL councilmen amend ordinance on beer licenses NORTH SALT LAKECity councilmen and members of the planning commission, meeting in joint session, have agreed to revise the city's beer license ordinance granting class A licenses. THE ISSUE was raised after two different developers approached the city with the intent of building convenience conveni-ence stores on the intersection of Highway 89 and Center Street. Under existing laws, a class A license could not have been granted because those sites fell "within 300 yards of the property line of a school or church." But after discussing the situation, the ordinance was amended to regulate only class C licenses (those granted to bars or taverns). Such licenses will still remain unattainable unattain-able by taverns or bars that fall within the 300 yard limitation, limita-tion, j "' ' ' "NEITHER OF these stores has officially committed to building on the site," city manager Collin Wood stated. "But both developers came to the council and planning commission with the issue so they'd know whether a class A license was obtainable should they decide to build." . |
