Show BHS Band is 'building' this year There's something exciting about ab-out the hometown team that comes from behind to win the game. SUPPORTERS of the Bountiful High Band can relate somewhat to this experience as they witnessed Brett LeVitre, Drum Major, accept the Second Place Trophy last Tuesday Tues-day night at the Davis Cup Marching Mar-ching Competition in the small band category, just behind Black-foot, Black-foot, Ida. It was a fitting reward for some young people who have worked extremely hard and a young Band Master who has worked work-ed even harder. This was to be a "building year" for the BHS band, with a new director, Dave Hunt, fresh from the University of Utah where he was drum major for four years! However, the high stepping Braves felt they had something to prove, having come in at the bottom of the heap in last year's competition. SATURDAY, after school and 6:15 a.m. rehearsals paid off as Bountiful finished higher than it ever has since the glory days when the band took state and national honors. With the Western States Competition coming up next week at the University of Utah, however, howev-er, the band members are not taking tak-ing it easy. You can bet they will be giving it their all. |
