MORONI j I By Speccd Cores pondance j Funeral Services Heidi For Little Stephen Christensen Most impressive funeral services serv-ices were held last Saturday for Stephen Christensen, age 5, son of Floyd and Eva Coleman Christensen, Chris-tensen, who died last Monday in a San Diego, California hospital. He was ill only 3Vs days. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Ly-man Christensen, received word on Friday of his critical condition, condi-tion, after which Mrs. Christensen Christen-sen left immediately and was with the parents when he passed away. The services were conducted by Bishop James Nielson. The speakers were Spafford Sumsion, President George M. Anderson and Mr. Coleman of Spring City, all of wh.om gave consolation and encouragement to the bereaved parents and family fam-ily in the loss of their beloved son. The prayers were offered by President Dermont Madsen and Bishop Daniel Anderson. A vocal duet was sung by Miss Darlene Christensen and Mrs. Lois Fillis, accompanied by Carol Chisten-sen, Chisten-sen, and an organ solo was rendered ren-dered by Miss Carol Christensen. A vocal solo was sung by Harold Arnoldsen and also a solo by Norma Jackson of Ephraim with Mrs. Jearl Jorgenson as accompanist. accom-panist. The many beautiful floral offerings of-ferings and the large number of relatives and friends in attendance attend-ance gave evidence of the respect and high esteem in which the family is held. They have the heart felt sympathy of everyone in their sad bereavement. Stephen Chistensen, five-year old son of Floyd and Eva Coleman Cole-man Christensen, former Spring City residents, died Monday in a San Diego, California hospital. He was born in Spring City, Sept. 4, 1939. For the past five years the family has lived in San Diego, Calif. Survivors include his parents and a brother, Robert J. Christensen, Christen-sen, who is now seriously ill in San Diego; four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Coleman, Spring City; Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Christensen, Moroni ; two great-grandmothers, great-grandmothers, Mrs. Mary K. All-red, All-red, Spring City, and Mrs. B. j Christensen of Moroni. : Marriage Announced Mr John E. Jensen announces the manage of his daughter, Hazel to Mr. John K. (Jack) Anderson, And-erson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Anderson, Tuesday, March 26th The wedding date marked the 33rd wedding anniversary of the bride's parents. The double ring ceremony was performed by President Pres-ident Lewis R. Anderson in the Manti Temple and was witnessed by several members of the family fam-ily and close friends of the popular popu-lar young couple. The bride has been employed for the past year by the Moroni Feed Co. and the bridegroom was discharged last month after three years service in the U. S. Army, serving in the Marrianas Islands the past 15 months in the Medical Corps. A reception honoring the couple will be given in the "Old Bungalow" Bunga-low" Wednesday, April 3rd following fol-lowing their honeymoon spent in the Colorado Rockies. Mayors of 51 Utah towns and cities responding to the call of the State Centennial Commission for statewide beautification have chosen committees to guide the project to a successful conclusion conclu-sion in time for the Centennial in 1947. The request from the Presiding Bishopric in Salt Lake City is that all wards clean up, repair, paint and beautify their surroundings. sur-roundings. Mrs. Kline Spell and daughter of Reno, Nevada are enjoying a few weeks visit here with Mrs. Dora Spell. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sorenson of Los Angeles spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soren C. Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Olson and Mr. and Mrs. La Mont Blackham returned home Tuesday from a three weeks trip to the East. They were accompanied home by Miss Christie Olsen, who was recently honorably released from the Eastern States mission, after having served as a missionary there for the past two years. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Christensen Christen-sen and family of Shelley, Idaho are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Bailey Bai-ley and family, all of Salt Lake City and . Mr." and Mrs. Monte Rasmussen of Provo came Saturday Satur-day to be present at a party in honor of Russel Bailey on Sunday, Sun-day, the event being his birthday anniversary. The day was spent in visiting, after which a most delicious hot dinner was served. Both East and West wards enjoyed en-joyed programs last Sunday in their Sacarment meetings, the former ward, under the direction of their Relief Society organization, organiza-tion, which was very interesting. In the west ward the entire time was used in a musical program which consisted of singing lr various arrangements by the children of the Elementary school and which was under the ; supervision of Mrs. Ila Faux. It j was enjoyed greatly by the large ' number in attendance. ' Mrs. John Allen has been visiting vis-iting with her daughter, Mrs. George Anderson and has now returned to Mesa, Arizona where she and her husband are per-formng per-formng temple work. Mrs. Isabelle Kellet and son, Andrew have now moved into their home, which was formerly owned by Udell Anderson. Mrs. Orlando Bradley of Nephi visited last week w-ith relatives and friends at Moroni. Mrs. Fred Guymon received word last week of the death of her father, Sherry Jackson of Cincinnati, Cin-cinnati, Ohio, who was killed by a motor cycle driver, as he was walking along to work. Mrs. Guymon has the sympathy of her relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nunley announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter, Myrtice to Mr. Merrill Stephenson of Levan on March 15th at Levan. Utah. Thev are making their, home for the present pres-ent in Moroni. Their many relatives rela-tives and friends wish them a long life of happiness and success. suc-cess. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jorgenson Jorgen-son and son of Provo visited last Sunday with friends and relatives rela-tives at Moroni. Mrs. Leon Holman and children chil-dren of Park City are spending a few days here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nunley. Last Friday at noon the Aaronic Priesthood boys of Moroni stake, who had been successful in earning earn-ing their individual quorum a-wards a-wards were given a most delightful de-lightful trip to Salt Lake City and Provo and were accompanied by four chaperons: Bishop Soren Jacobson of Wales; President Clifford S. Blackham, Lawrence Kelson of Moroni and Osmond Crowther of Fountain Green. After Af-ter arriving in Salt Lake City their program was as follows: They first enjoyed swimming at Wasatch Hot Springs; Lunch, Picture Show, "Bandit of Sherwood Sher-wood Forest"; Dinner at Covey's New American Motor Lodge; visit vis-it to Bishop Le Grande Richards office where a guide took them to the University of Utah, to Fort Douglas, to the site where "This Is The Place" Monument will be erected and then to Hogle Gardens; Gar-dens; and from there to Pioneer Park and K.S.L. Studio, after which they enjoyed a most de-licioius de-licioius hot dinner. They then visited the Temple grounds and attended the organ recital at the Tabernacle. The last place in Salt Lake City was to the Municipal Muni-cipal Air Port where most of the boys enjoyed an air plane ride. When they reached Provo, they attended another picture show, "Road To Utopia," after which they left for home and arrived about midnight Saturday night. Those who attended this most enjoyable en-joyable treat were: Dewey Nelson, Nel-son, Jay Anderson, Richard Moon, Ralph Jensen, all of the Chester ward; Donnell Blackham, Glen Bailey, Max Blackham, Clair Morley, Ray Sumsion, all of Moroni Mo-roni East ward; Peter Jacobson and young Crowther of Fountain Green. The Jr. Sorosis club members were entertained last Wednesday Wednes-day evening at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Kelson. A very enjoyable musical program was rendered after which the time was spent in playing Pinochle. A most delicious de-licious hot dinner was served to the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Edwards and family of Charleston, Utah visited last Thursday with Pres. and Mrs. George M. Anderson. Myrtle Kelson was hostess to members of the Junior Sorosis club Wednesday night. A musical musi-cal program was given by Opal Scoville, Magdelene Allred and Valene Johansen of Mt. Pleasant. A hot dinner was served, after which Pinochle was played by the guests. Grace Westenschow was a special guest. Mrs. Ruth Christensen, Mrs. iDeniece Blackham and Mrs. Reba Anderson were hostesses to members mem-bers of the Junior Sorosis club at the party on Monday night at the home of the Anderosns. Hot dinner was served and Pinochle was enjoyed later. Mr. and Mrs. Theron Madsen and family of Spring City, Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Bradley, Mrs. Florence Green and son, Max of Ogden visited with Mr. and Mrs. Rees Bradley Sunday. The Birthday (8) club was entertained en-tertained on March 12th at the home of Mrs. Minnie Blackham. The table was beautifully decorated deco-rated with yellow daffodils and green and a delicious hot dinner was served with Mrs. Grace Westenschow and Mrs. Izola Blackham assisting in the serving. serv-ing. Miss Joyce Westenschow entertained them with singing. |
