Show SPRING CITY j By Special Correspondence I Scout Master Joseph F. Hansen, President Ralph Christensen and Cousellor Virgus Osborne of the Y. M. M. I. A. and their wives attended the Utah National Parks Boy Scouts Silver Jubilee celebration cele-bration at Provo, Saturday afternoon after-noon and evening. Mrs. Ruth Osborne and Miss Ethel Osborne left Friday for Midvale. Miss Osborne will be employed there and both will visit at the home of Mr. ano Mrs. Clifford Justesen. Mrs. La Mar Dye was hostess Friday evening to a large group of children at a birthday party for her son, Ellis, who was ten years of age. The children played games and Mrs. Dye served them with delicious refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hope were Salt Lake visitors Saturday. The members of the K. K. club and their partners were guests Wednesday evening at a House warming party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Allred visited vis-ited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred. They are residing in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Warner Christensen Christen-sen of Provo visited over the week end in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Cott of Cedar City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Madsen and family over the week end. Mrs. Dorcus Blain visited the past week in Salt Lake City with her dauhter, Mrs. Bernice Chris-censen Chris-censen and family. The Art class of Spring City, iiuier the direction ot Helen V. Madsen, is decorating the lunch room with large panel pictures, and a slihouette border of Mother Moth-er Goose favorites. Each student in the class made a panel and all helped with the border. The Art room is also decorated with interesting work done by the students. Parents and all interested are invited to see the work. Bishop and Mrs. E. B. Terry were visitors in Fairview Sunday afternoon and evening. Miss Norma Jackson of Eph-raim Eph-raim is visiting her grand mother, moth-er, Mrs. May Larsen of this city. Mrs. Petrea Larsen, a lifelong resident of Spring City, was honored on her eighty-fourth birthday by her family at her home Tuesday, March 26th. Mrs. Larsen was born at Spring City, March 26, 1862,' a daughter of Peter and Bertha Monson, who were pioneers. They crossed the plains in the year 1859, walking the entire distance. A member of the L D S church, she was active for many years as a Relief Society visiting teacher. teach-er. She was married to Louis Larsen, May 30, 1890, in the Manti Temple. Mr. Larsen was engaged in farming until his death, November ,1924. Of their four children, three daughters are living, Mrs. Ber-getta Ber-getta Jensen, Miss Mary Larsen and Mrs. Otellia Justensen of this city. There are seven grand children and one grandson, Elbert El-bert Jensen, is now serving in China. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Allred and mother, Mrs. Sarah E. All-red, All-red, living in wgden, visited Saturday and Sunday with relatives rela-tives in this city. Mrs. Lola Watson was hostess Thursday afternoon to the following fol-lowing ladies at a quilting party. Mrs. Ella Carlson, Mrs. Eva J. Allred, Mrs. Sarah Justesen, Mrs. Anenia Allred, Mrs. Mable Beck, Mrs. Hazel Covert, Mrs. Vurleen Osborne, Mrs. Lafern Jensen, Mrs. Bernice Erickson, Mrs. Lorna Jensen, Mrs. Jane Donaldson, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Leona Terry, Mrs. Ada Ellis, Mrs. Grace Allred, Mrs. Libbie Allred, Mrs. Mary Jensen, Mrs. Rose Olson, Mrs. Emma Sorenson, also Mrs. Wanda Christensen of Moroni. A delicious lunch was served the guests by the nostess. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Larsen were visitors over the week end at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Larsen. The young couple are living in Logan where Mr. Larsen is attending school. Mr. and Mr.s Odell Blain visited vis-ited Saturday and Sunday in Salt Lake City with relatives. Mrs. Mary Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Jensen were visitors in Manti Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clifton J. Anderson Ander-son received word that their son, James S. Anderson, who is stationed sta-tioned at Nortfi Fort Lewis, Washington, was promoted from the rank of Corporal to that of Sergeant. James is Mechanical Instructor at the Fort. The Spring City ward members were well represented at the Stake Gold and Green Ball in Mt. Pleasant Friday evening. Young people dancing in the M. I. A. dance from this ward were: Queen, Beth Osborne; attendant, Joe McGerty, Viola Allred, Ronald Ron-ald Coleman, Betty Pherson, Junior Jun-ior Fullmer, Thelma Osborne, La Voy Hansen and Eugene Terry. In the Quadrille group dancing were: Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken, Mrs. Emma Em-ma Osborne and Virgus Osborne. Many ward members were also present. Pvt. Francis Schofield is home on furlough, after several months training at Camp Roberts. California. Cali-fornia. Califor-nia. The Aleathea club members and their husbands enjoyed a rook party Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. El-don El-don Neilsen. Mrs. IS'eilsen is the outgoing club president and the party was held in her honor. The guests enjoyed a delicious lunch Under the direction of Scout Master Lowell Hansen, the following fol-lowing scouts enjoyed a hike to the mountains Saturday, where they cooked their breakfast and enjoyed a day's outing, also worked on scout activities and tests. The boys were: v Charles Osborne, Gordon Blain,' Blake Allred, Glen Osborne, Deniel Holt, Grant Watson, Don Allred, David Sorensen, Bernell Schofield Scho-field and Golden Dean Terry. Mr. and Mrs. Claren Schofield entertained the following friends at a party Sunday evening at their home, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Jensen, Jen-sen, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Terry and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert Watson. A delicious hot lunch was served by Mrs. Schofield. Winners Win-ners at rook playing were: Lamont La-mont Jensen and Mrs. E. B. Terry. Ter-ry. Earl Beck of Lehi visited Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mrs. Mary E. Acord. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Major entertained the following members mem-bers of their family at a dinner Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Major and children, Ardith and Ronald of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. William Burr, and son. Leonard of Riverton; Bishop and Mrs. James Neilson, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Moulton and Mrs. Ellen El-len Rostron of Moroni. The table center piece was ? large cake decorated with pink roses, with the words, "Welcome Home Boys," on it. The cake was obtained from a Salt Lake baker for the occasion, which was a Homecoming for Bernard Major and William Burr ex-servicemen. Bernard, Chief Petty Officer lc, served 13 months as a Seabee, serving overseas on Guam. There in construction work he was in charge of 52 men, and helped in the construction of two large Red Cross buildings. William Burr, son-in-law of the Majors, served several years in trip Aleutians and also the Pa cific area. He was in service for 38 months. Mrs. Vincent Major entertained a number of friends at a rook party Monday evening in honor of her husband's birthday. Delicious De-licious refreshments were served the guests. Mrs. Leroy Black entertained the Aleathea club members and their partners at her home Sunday Sun-day evening at a chicken dinner. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Neilsen, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Ru-dolph Hope, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Void Sorensen, Mr. and Mrs. Mabert Strate, Mrs. Eva Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Neilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Draper. Winners at the rook playing were: Mrs. Rudolph Hope, Mrs. Floyd Draper, Mrs. Eldon Neilson, Neil-son, Eldon Neilson and Void Sorensen. Sor-ensen. Relief Society members enjoyed en-joyed and appreciated a talk and discussion in Relief Society meeting meet-ing Tuesday afternoon, given by Welby Bigelow, M. D., State Director Di-rector of Venereal disease control. con-trol. Mrs. Everett Strate learned Tuesday of the death of her father, fath-er, Jerome Henry in a Salt Lake City hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Reid Black visited Sunday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Ang-us Black. Mrs. Black accompanied accom-panied the young people back to their home in Salt Lake City where she will visit for a few days. |
