Show First Picture Theatre Razed American Fork's first picture show house on Main and Center streets was removed last week to make way for a new Texico Super Service station. sta-tion. The original picture house on the corner and the Howard Green garage building to the east have both been cleared off the property ready for the errection of a new modern $7,000 service station building. William Chipman owner of the corner property, closed the deal with the oil company Monday, who are said will commence building operations opera-tions within a few days. The frame building on the corner was errected in June, 1909, by William Will-iam Thornton and was the first exclusive motion picture show house in the city although pictures were shown in the old theatre here prior to its distruction by fire. The picture pic-ture theatre was known as the Lyric and operated for several years after its errection. |
