Show Miss Ann Clayson has returned! home after spending the past eight months at Duchesne where she has been teaching in the grade schools there.- Miss Emily Madsen of Duchesne has been a guest here of Miss Clayson during the week past. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Nicholes stopped in American Fork Sunday afternoon enroute home to Latuda, Carbon Co., from Salt Lake. They visited Mr. Nicholes' parents, Mr. and Airs. Joseph Nicholes while here. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Roundy of Fielding spent Sunday in American Fork, the guests of Miss Stella Cunningham. Cun-ningham. A few of the friends of Mrs. Ralph Davis from this city went to Lehi and spent last Friday afternoon with her, the occasion being her birthday. The afternoon was spent in social chat following which a "pot-luck" lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Sabey of McGill, Nevada, are the happy parents par-ents of a winsome baby girl, born Monday. Mrs. Sabey formerly was Miss Ruby Steele and is at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moral D. Steele here. She and the new arrival are doing fine. Mr. and Mi's. Mark Burriston and Mr. Burriston's mother, Mrs. J. H. Burriston came from Salt Lake Wednesday and will remain until Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dunkley. Mrs. John H. Miller entertained the Sorosis Club ladies last Friday afternoon. Fourteen members of the club and a special guest, Miss Jen-nette Jen-nette Miller were present. Bridge was played, Mrs. Ed Larsen winning high score prize. A dainty lunch completed the entertainment, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baird and family have moved into the C. A. Pierson home on west Main street, which recently was purchased by C. B. Halliday of Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Gam Carter and family have moved into the Timpson home which the Bairds moved from. Mrs. Emily K. Adamson entertained entertain-ed her family and a few friends on Tuesday evening, the occasion being her 89th birthday. The rooms were decorated with lovely spring flowers. ; Social chat was the main diversion after which a big birthday cake was cut and dainty refreshments were served to 30 guests. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Birk and daughter of Provo; Mrs. George Lott and daughter Mildred, Mrs. Edward Phillips" and Mrs. Agnes Lott of Lehi; Mrs.'- Stella Nelson, James Conder, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Birk, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Birk, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly and daughter, June, Mrs. Lillie Wilde and daughter, Bernice, Lenard Wilde, Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Wilde and son Dick, Mrs. Angus Vance, Mrs. Nina Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ellison and two children, Wilma and Donald, Mrs. Janet Crystal and the guest of honor, hon-or, Mrs. Emily K. Adamson. Mr. and Mrs. Norvan Storrs, Bishop Bish-op and Mrs. Richard Andrews of Salt Lake were guests here Wednesday Wednes-day night at the Bishop J. H. Storrs home. They came especially to see Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stewart who recently re-cently returned from a mission to the Hawaiian Islands. A son of the Andrews' . is on a mission there at the present time. Miss Elma Monson, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Monson, is nursing a broken arm resulting from a fall Monday evening at her home. Miss Monson was climbing' when she slipped and fell. A physician was summoned at once and she is feeling feel-ing much better. Mrs. C. A. Pearson, Mrs. Byron Crookston and Mrs. Sadie Bromley attended a tea given by Mrs. Henry Geese and iMrs. Harry Robley of Provo at the home of Mrs. Geese Friday afternoon last. Mrs. Pierson, who is moving away from American Fork, was the honor guest at the party. , , , 9 - Jim Ingersoll, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Ingersoll met with an accident Monday evening about 7 o'clock while playing on the lawn in front of his home. He stumbled and fell over a wagon, breaking an arm. The injured member was .given .giv-en immediate attention and is healing heal-ing nicely. Am. Fork Locals Mrs. Stanford Wilde spent last week-end in Provo with her sister, Mrs. Sam Kelly and family. Mrs, Henry Bartholio and baby left for Los Angeles Wednesday to join Mr. Bartholio who is employed there. Mrs. Alice Crookston, Miss Sarah Earl, Mrs. Melba St. Jeor, and Mrs. Verla Coddington with beauty operators op-erators from Pleasant Grove and Lehi attended a luncheon and business busi-ness meeting held in Springville -Monday night. "Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pierson are spending this week in Lehi guests of ' Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Doll. Mrs. Pierson Pier-son leaves Sunday for Boston to spend three weeks and following her return from the east after a short visit here will leave for California to reside. . Mr. and Mrs. William Chipman, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Russon, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meredith, Mr. and Mrs. Harvel Bennett attended the fourth annual convention and banquet of the Red and White stores of this district held in Springville Thursday evening of last week, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mitchell Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Mitchell and Miss Madge Mitchell were in Salt Lake Monday afternoon in attendance atten-dance at the funeral of Mrs. Albert Mitchell Jr, A number of people in American Fork became acquainted with the deceased when she assisted In operating the A. & W. Root Beer stand on the Adamson corner here several years ago. Monday Mrs. Eli J. Clayson, Miss Ann Clayson and Miss Emily Mad-sen, Mad-sen, their guest from Duchesne, spent the day in Salt Lake. Miss Leah Greenwood returned home from a week's visit in Salt Lake where she was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Smith. Mrs. Ernest Hindley Jr. spent last week-end in Cedar Fort with relatives. rela-tives. Masters of Bingham, and Mrs. Annie Smith f Salt Lake were guests here last Sunday Sun-day afternoon of Mrs. June S. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Searle and Mrs. Lindsay Ovard left Saturday morning for Twin Falls, Idaho. Mr. Searle received a telegram stating his sister, Mrs. Ellen Fillmore had died there. The funeral services were held Sunday. Enroute home they stopped in Shelley, Idaho, where Mrs. Leo Searle joined them an accompanied ac-companied them to Salt Lake. Leo Searle of Salt Lake accompanied them to Idaho and return. Harvey Allen's "Anthony Adverse", j one of the most discussed and popular popu-lar of the latest books of fiction, was reviewed by Mrs. Byron Crookston Crook-ston Thursday afternoon of last week, under the auspices of the Ladies Literary Club. The meeting was held in the civic rooms of the library and there were a number of visitors present in addition to the club members. Miss Edith Anderson spent last week-end in Pleasant Grove, with her grandmother, Mrs. Ole Anderson. Miss Betha Storrs, Miss Ann Clayson, Leland Priday, Ferren Sag-er Sag-er and Max Jones, members of the B. Y. TJ. Symphony Orchestra were with the orchestra on a tour through northern Utah Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednes-day. A concert was given Tuesday morning at the Weber High school in Ogden and in the afternoon another an-other was given in Ogden High school. Tuesday night in the Logan tabernacle the orchestra played again and the building was filled to capacity. Wednesday morning in Kaysville the orchestra gave a concert con-cert at the Davis County High school. The tour was most successful, success-ful, the local members report and highly enjoyed by the sixty persons participating. r ' I Mrs. Crookston's review was splendidly splen-didly given and reflected careful preparation. Mr. Allen spent four years in writing the book. Those who heard the review were very well paid for their attendance. Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Donahue of Salt Lake entertained at dinner at their home in Salt Lake City on Sunday last for their mother, Mrs. Emily K. Adamson, of this city. The occasion was in celebration of Mrs. Adamson's birthday which occurred May 1st. The rooms were decorated with spring flowers. Social chat was enjoyed after which dinner was served serv-ed to ten guests. An elaborate birthday birth-day cake formed the centerpiece of the tables, at which covers were laid for Mrs. LeRoy Lott, Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Green and Mrs. Janet Crystal of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gardner and nephews, Ronald and Billie; Mrs. Mary Adamson- of Salt Lake, the host and hostess hos-tess and the honor guest, Mrs. Adamson. |
