Show Turkey Deal Hearing Nears Completion The taking of testimony by the Department of Agriculture of the State of Utah involving the marketing market-ing of the 1936 turkey crop of forty-nine forty-nine local producers is nearing conclusion. con-clusion. The hearing opened January 10th and has been going forward almost every day since at the City Hall. The commission requested attorneys on both sides to try and close their questioning this week. The complaint to the Department of Agriculture of the State of Utah by the forty-nine turkey growers of Utah county charges Poultry Products, Pro-ducts, Inc. entered into individual contracts with them to market their 1936 crop of turkeys; and that they have failed to render to said producers, pro-ducers, as required by the Produce Dealers' Act, an itemized account of sales and deductions on their individual indi-vidual turkeys. It is also charged that Poultry Products, Inc. handled and sold the turkeys of - the plaintiffs plaint-iffs as a pool and failed to keep individual in-dividual records of each plaintiff's turkeys, as required by law. In testimony Wednesday a Poultry Poul-try Products witness charged that it was impossible to operate their business busi-ness of marketing turkeys 'and live up to all provisions of the new Produce Dealers' Act and further stated that he doubted if other marketing mar-keting groups were adhearing strictly strict-ly to the act. The hearing will be resumed today. |
