Show Summer Recreation Recrea-tion Program Outlined Miss Lou Groesbeck and Leo Nelson, city recreation leaders, have planned a tentative summer recreation recrea-tion program for school children of the community during the summer vacation months. The program follows: fol-lows: Continuation of dancing and gymnasium gym-nasium classes 1. Softball leagues, a. Adults. b. Boys c. Girls II. SVimming outings to a nearby resort. We would suggest here that some type of swimming pool be constructed construct-ed in our city which would afford that sport to the large groups of boys and girls who. use irrigation ditches and the mill pond for swimming. swim-ming. m. American Legion baseball league (to include all boys under 17 years of age. IV. Hiking. V. Encampments. VI. Tennis Tournaments. a. Boys b. Girls c. Adults VII. Play days at City park to include games for children, races, etc. VTII. Horseshoe Tournaments. IX Checker tournaments (tables to be placed at City parks). X. Roller skating. XI. Handcraft for boys. a. Modeling airoplanes, etc b. Handcraft for girls, fancy work in sewing XTI. Art classes for children and adults (painting pictures, dishes, etc). XIEC. Bicycle clubs. VTV. Story hour at park. XV. Evening or late afternoon entertainments for public, once a month, such as "Amateur Hour." Dramatic festival (acting stories told in story hour) and kiddies carnival. car-nival. o |
