Show Viking wrestling 1 peasant drove claimed three' individual champions and a second place team finish in the seven-team Region 8 Tournament Thursday. fourth at 108. Those nine Vikings will compete in the 3-A State Meet that starts tomorrow in Ogden at Weber State. Spanish Fork,- under Coach Allan Albright, showed expected strength as the favorites and won five individual titles in taking the team championship with 182 points. The Vikings had 145 points with Payson 93, Carbon 87, Ix;hi 82, Springville 61 and Cedar City 57. Winning individual championships champion-ships for the Vikings were Iinnie Truex, Darren Jackson and Phil Cook. Truex, just a ninth grader who is allowed to compete at the high school because there is no wrestling program at the junior high, got by Spanish Fork's Tyron Hatfield, 7-5. Coach Henry described the freshman's effort as "a great individual effort by a kid with a lot of heart." Truex won the 101 pound title. Darren Jackson, a senior, beat Jay Aldredge of Spanish Fork 7-1 to claim the title at 141 pounds while Phil Cook was the best in the region at 170 pounds. Second place winners for Pleasant Grove were Shawn Pueblo (122), Thane Eyre (148) and John Nelson (188).
