Show Adopt-a-Grandparent program held at Alpine Valley Care Center in P.G. The Alpine Valley Care Center has had an Adopt-A -Grandparent program in effect for about one year now, it was reported hy Rarbara Glenn of the recreation department at the center. She said that a Junior Girl Scout IVoop, 489, from Forbes School in American Fork and directed by Kathy Kenny comes over once a month to the center. A Rrownie lYoop, led bv Mary N. Johnson, also comes to the center. The girls have been assigned a grandparent who they visit each time they come. They also play recreation therapy games together. Rarbara said that this is g(xd for both the grandparents and for the girls. She noted that the girls develop a relationship with older people. It helps them to know the importance of older folks in the community. me piugiuiii uinigs visitors to some of the residents who do not usually have visitors. The kids give ' love, Rarbara added. The girls and the grandparents have done quilting together and the girls have brought gifts to the older folks. Rarbara noted that if any church groups, school classes or clubs, scouts, or others are interested in participating in this program they could contact her at 785-3568. |
