Show , Plans start for next year's fair at the fair. Especially mentioned were the flower shop and sale, the art exhibit and the historical tours and slides. More emphasis will be given in the future to displays of garden items, the committee decided. A meeting will be held Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Recreation Office Building for the purpose of selecting a chairman and other officers for the 1984 Community Fair. All those who served on the committee this year, in addition to all other interested persons are invited to attend. The committee for the Pleasant Grove Community Fair which was held Sept. 10 met to evaluate the fair last Thursday and called it a great success. The committee also agreed that the fair should be held annually on the Saturday closest to the city's birthday which is Sept. 13. Next year the date will be Sept. 15. Members of the committee related comments they had heard from townsfolk who attended the fair. Everyone reported that they had received positive feedback ahout the fair. It was suggested that the day end with a barbecue supper in the park after the booths have all been removed. Another idea was to have some of the elderly folks in the community be allotted a time to tell stories about their youth. Committee member Jim Walker said that because the community fair is held at the same time as the State Fair there will be little opportunity to get entries for a photography show at the local fair. It was reported that the local talent attracted more crowds than did the professional talent which would seem to indicate that more local talent would be used next year. Bill Hoglund who had served as chairman of the fair this year apologized to the Order of the Arrow for not providing enough stage time for their performances but promised there would be adequate time next year. Others suggested that the booths be spaced out a little more and that the committee set the prices for the food stands so that they were all the same". All the committee members reported that they were pleased with the response of the community and of the groups who set up booths |
