Show Governor's Program To Reduce Drunk Drivers Governor Scott M. Matheson has announced an-nounced a major new program designed to reduce the number of drunk drivers on Utah highways. Operation R.E.D.D.I., Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately, utilizes reports of citizens to their local police sheriff and highway patrol to detect and apprehend drunk drivers. The goal of Operation R.E.D.D.I. is to reduce alcohol related accidents ac-cidents in Utah. One half of all fatal accidents ac-cidents in Utah involve drunk drivers. A combined effort of citizens and law enforcement en-forcement is essential in reversing this ever-increasing ever-increasing rate of alcohol related accidents. ac-cidents. Citizens are encouraged en-couraged to report drunk drivers by phone, citizen band radio, channel 9, or in person to officers on patrol. The waste of human lives and suffering that can be avoided by early detection and apprehension ap-prehension of drunk drivers is enthusiastically en-thusiastically supported by the Utah Sheriff's Association, Chief of Police Association, the Department of Public Safety and the Utah Highway Patrol. The drunk driver is everyone's problem. The Utah Highway Patrol encourages the active support of all citizens of the State in assisting their local police agencies in getting the drunk driver off the road.
