V Pleasant Grove scored four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to blast Timpview, 13-- 4 in Region Seven baseball action Tuesday af-ternoon. Charlie Baldridge came to bat twice with the bases loaded and delivered two solid singles to drive in four runs during the game. Baldridge went three for four at the plate. Great defensive plays by the Vikings kept Timpview from scoring early. The Thunderbirds had three hits in the first inning but Steve Warner threw out Mick Lyons trying to stretch a single into a double. Later Tim Chambers hit cut off man Craig Hilton who relayed a perfect throw to catcher, Clark Hill, to get Paul Sagers trying to score from second. Chambers also robbed Mike Page of an extra bad base hit with a fine running catch deep in centerfield in the third inning. PG's big hit came off the bat of junior Scot Walker. Walker ripped a towering home run over the right field fence to score Hill who had drawn a walk. The ball cleared the 10 foot fence that is 350 feet from home plate. Brian Tobler went the distance to record the win for PG, the teams first victory in Region Seven play this year. The Vikings host American Fork today. Weather forecasts are for a 'normal' spring day with tem-peratures in the 60's. The last time the two teams met, it snowed and the Cavemen defeated the Vikes, 9-- Saturday, PG travels to Vernal for a double header with the Utes. With no runs scored in the first inning, it looked to be a close game in the frigid wind. But with two men on in the second, Baldridge smashed a double to bring in two runs and start a Viking rally. After two walks, Norman ripped a single to score two more runs and to keep the rally alive. Within five innings the Vikings had accumulated a total of 18 runs and the game was called. The win boosted the jv won-los- s record to Tomorrow afternoon the jv will take on a tough American Fork team at 2:30 in American Fork.
