The new chairman t had previously served k on the committee under Delores Bradshaw who had been publicity director for the com-munity Progress pro-gram. Mrs. Walker has served as Primary and MIA president in the LDS Church and as a teacher in all of the auxiliaries of the church. She has held various positions on the Valley View PTA board and presently serves as publicity chairman and parliamentarian. She is married to Jerald Walker and they are the parents of five children. Under the direction of the city council she has assisted in editing the community news-letter for the past few years. She is editor of the Pleasant Grove Review and formerly was a correspondent for the Daily Herald for nine years. Mrs. Walker is a member of the Utah Press Women. She is a journalism graduate from BYU. Students helped with measuring, cutting, sewing and adding weights in the hem and tacking the pleats, their teacher is Mary Halsey. MeriAnn Christensen Earns Nursing Degree at Ricks J MeriAnn Christensen, daughter of Mr. and ti Mrs. E. Dean 1j Christensen, Pleasant j Grove, has recieved an j Associate Degree in I Nursing from Ricks 5 College. MeriAnn was one of 49 j nursing students receiving the pins in special ceremonies last Wednesday evening. 3 The Ricks nursing ' program is a two-ve- ar terminal program with the graduates then eligible to take state board nursing examinations. The two-yea- r program includes classwork and intensive clinical work in area hospitals. MeriAnn is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. MERI ANN CHRISTENSEN I Flyers of Wasatch Bank Win Early Bird Tourney Wasatch Bank Flyers of Pleasant wove went undefeated in the Bountiful Fastpitch Tourney held in Bountiful the last three Saturdays. Wasatch defeated Coca Cola of Ogden, 12-- 1 to take the title. Wasatch was led by the strong pitching of Al ween and Jim Kane. As a team they M .312. Al Bjarnson's .533 led the team with Ed Anderson at .471 close behind. Bjarnson was named the most valuable player of the tournament. Wasatch Bank opens league play this Tuesday in Salt Lake City and plays a double header in Pleasant Grove Thursday at 7 p.m. Junior Rodeo Queen Contest Announced I The Strawberry Days junior rodeo queen contest will be held Saturday May 15 at the Lmdon arena beginning a' 4:30 p.m. Girls interested in competing for this honor must be 15 years of age or under and reside in Pleasant Grove, Lindon or Manila. Contestants should call Jalayne Mecham to register, 785,2969. A clinic to help girls learn riding patterns will be taught by Janeen Runolfson on Friday, May 7 at 4 p.m. at her home, 931 West 1800 North, Pleasant Grove. |
