Show Ski Team Changes Made The U.S. Ski Team has made some changes in their team roster for the upcoming January World Cup and Europa Cup tours. These changes reflect results from the December races in Europe, the National Training Train-ing Camp held in Aspen, Colorado and subsequent Elbert races in Vail and Winter Park, Colorado. The men's World Cup giant slalom and slalom team will include Phil and Steve Mahre and "B" team member John Buxman. The men's World Cup downhill team will be joined by "B" team member Steve Hegg. "After a disappointing fall in training results, Steve came to his own in the December period," said Alpine Director Bill Marolt. Other racers will include Mike Farny, Doug Powell, Jace Romick, Tris Cochrane, Andy Luhn, Andy Chambers, Cham-bers, Doug Lewis, Mike Brown, Bill Johnson, and Paul Mahre. A group of nine racers will travel to Europe for the Europa Cup giant slalom and slalom circuit for five weeks in January and February. Heading up that list will be Dan Stripp, the first American Ameri-can to win a Europa Cup race in recent memory, last year's slalom in Mieringen, Switzerland. Swit-zerland. Other racers will include Steve Bounous, Cory Carlson, Carl-son, Felix McGrath, Ben Akers, Tiger Shaw, Hansi Standteiner, Mark Tache, and new member Alexander Williams, who is the only member participating in Europe for the first time. The Europa Cup downhill team will be headed by Alan Lauba, joined by Eric Conner, Con-ner, Matt Davidson, and Pete Field who were selected from the Aspen Training Camp. In the women's structure, Abbi Fisher, after a long, illustrious career, - will not return to Europe for the January World Cup races. She will stay in the U.S. and train and a decision on future involvement with the team will be made based on her progress. Eva Twardokens from Reno, Nevada, who has made steady progress in the last year and a half, will elevate to the women's World Cup team.
