Show Summer school classes get the go-ahead by Nan Chalat There were 70 responses to the summer school survey, and as a result 14 of the suggested classes will definitely be held from June 17 to July 3. It is the Park City School District's first attempt at offering a summer school session. Hal Smith, who has been chosen to coordinate the program, said, "It is a big step which I hope will be expanded next year." Smith said there is still room for additional students in each of the sections that will be offered. After tabulating the responses Smith said the following classes will be taught this summer: For elementary school students, there will be sections in arts and crafts, creative drama, study skills, reading, creative writing and computer com-puter graphics. Middle school students can sign up for arts and crafts, Spanish, drama, computer science, study skills, reading, French, creative writing, typing, computer graphics and photography. For high school students, there will be classes in Spanish, computer science, study skills, French, typing, computer graphics, remedial math, photography, remedial English, math and algebra. Smith said the students will be able to take a summer home economics class or typing for one quarter of credit. Although the session is too short to offer the other courses for credit, Smith said he hopes the program can be offered for credit next year. "I know it would help our students," Smith said. j In addition to the academic classes, a summer music program will be taught by Bill Huhnke.
