Show Sign code $ changes OK'd j The Park City Planning Commission Commis-sion approved several changes to the city sign code at its April 10 meeting. But the panel decided a proposed rule on sale signs was one regulation too many. The city now allows firms to advertise special sales with temporary tem-porary paper signs in windows. A proposed rule from city staff said the sale signs should be set back at least . a foot behind the window. But Planning Commissioner Ruth Gezelius said a small business often doesn't have much space. Planning Chairman Brad Olch said the city has enough to enforce with sale signs. (City code allows their use for no more than a two-week period, five times a year.) And Planning Commissioner Ray Robinson said, "I don't think government should look for ways to regulate." u This proposal was dropped from I the code changes. But the planning J commission unanimously approved other modifications. Among them: ! On mixed-use buildings, outside wall signs are confined to wall area below the second floor elevations, zi Signs below may be located on flat J wall area, within windows or on sign A bands above windows. Above that, J the only wall sign allowed is one identifying the building name and address. f Particle board was added to the f ( list of prohibited material for J permanent signs.
