Show .. i , . xSSCMitCIliiait Ay by Bea Kummer '' - " ' Worrians Athenaeum to hold party Dec. 1 1 The Womans Athenaeum held its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building. President Donna Dearden was in charge. Nan McPolin led the club collect in the pledge of allegiance. Minutes were read by secretary Wilma Larremore. Plans were made for the Christmas party to be held at the next meeting, which will be held Dec. 9. This year, we plan a cookie exchange with each member bringing bring-ing her favorite recipe. The evening program was.; prepared by Ella Sorenson on the '., history of the Statue of Liberty and , Ellis Island. The original name of the statue was "Liberty enlightening the world" and Ellis Island was called call-ed the Isle of Tears. Many of Park City's residents came to this country as immigrants and many personal experiences were shared by them and their families, making it a very informative infor-mative and interesting evening. The Daughter of Utah Pioneers Park City Camp No. 1 will hold its meeting Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Seminary Building. The lesson for December is "Christmas Reminiscing." Reminisc-ing." There is no holiday in all the year with so many endearing recollec-tions, recollec-tions, so many charming reminiscences, such tender associations associa-tions and altogether such wonderful fascination hanging over and around it than Christmas. It is the day of days, with the children most especially, when they expect all sorts of gifts and treasures. ; The lesson continued with stories and poems, such as "When Santa Was Late," "The Purple Purse" and "The Old House"; Christmas memories; and a poem from the ledger of John Francis of Henefer. Yesterdays' celebration was so different from the Christmas of today to-day aand yet the same feelings are there. A potluck dinner will be enjoyed ; and gifts will be exchanged at our : , Christmas party. All members are urged to join in with the Christmas spirit. Thanksgiving proved to be a very busy but happy occasion at the Rummer Rum-mer home, filled with family and friends from many places. Steve arrived from San Diego; Mary, Andy, Bill and Kathy arrived from Phoenix; and others came from Huntington, Salt Lake City, Orem and the Park. Twenty-nine sat down to dinner and enjoyed it immensely. im-mensely. Today, the house is quiet and almost empty, but the memories of a wonderful time will linger on for years to come. Emma Lemon had all of her family home for Thanksgiving: Dave Gladys, Chuck, Darren, Robin, Bill, Tanya, Craig, Charles and Shawn. ; The day was enjoyed by all. It was the first time in years they have all been together. Emma was very happy to have all ' her children and grandchildren home. : |
