Max has written and illustrated a storybook for children that gives the slow-moving potguts their day in the limelight. Max (above) is the creator of the Park Record cartoon character Sherman, who has a potgut pal. For the kids: P.C. cartoonist invents a colorful storybook How does Christmas in Park City look to its furry inhabitants? Car-toonist Car-toonist J.P. Max has supplied the answers in "The Potgut's Christmas." Publication is scheduled this week for a storybook, written and illustrated il-lustrated by Max, about T.J. Potgut, who wants to know what Christmas is about. To find out, he heads for Parley's Park Elementary School and decides to have a Yuletide celebration of his own. The book has 33 drawings that are 8" X 10". It can be used as a coloring book. A children's book may not be what you expect from Max, the Park Record cartoonist famous for his rowdy comments on the local scene. The idea came up when Deborah Cassidy of KPCW radio where Max spins records suggested he write a children's ' h1 rcn!!H The story will be broadcast on KPCW Dec. 12 with Teri Gomes as narrator and Vicki Decker, Glen Steigmeyer and "T-Bone" the disc , jockey supplying the voices for other characters.
