Show Park City athletes to vie for awards Six members of the Park City and ParkWest youth ski teams have been chosen as possible recipients of scholarships created by CB Sports and the United States Ski Association, Associa-tion, hi: k. The CBUSSA scholarship program pro-gram will honor two levels of athletes with its gold and silver team awards. The CBUSSA scholarship program is the brainchild of CB. Vaughan Jr., owner and founder of 1 CB Sports, Bennington, Vt. Local skiers chosen for the gold team are Shannon Nobis, Danny Tebbs, Essie Doilney and Shannon Brunner. Monte Spalrby and Cammy Potter were selected to the silver team, along with Bret Johnson, currently cur-rently skiing for Sun Valley Racing, and Stephanie Palmer, who skis for Burke Mountain Academy. The gold team will consist of 80 youths chosen nationwide, using the ( International Team Selection Method. That method uses age-point Js lists (slalom, giant slalom and downhill) of the 1985 spring USSA national point list. Each athlete will be awarded a CB Sports shell and certificates of acknowledgement. Of the youth on the gold team, two boys and two girls will be chosen to receive $1,500 scholarships to help pay for travel and competition-related competition-related expenses. Recipients will be selected based on applications submitted sub-mitted by members of the gold team. U.S. Ski Team members and , National Training Group teams are not eligible. The silver team will comprise 60 athletes. The Team Selection Method from events held at the three USSA Junior 3 Olympics (West, Rocky, Central) will be used to determine each region's top 10 boys and girls. Each team member will receive CB Sports merchandise. Three $750 scholarships will be awarded to the top two boys and girls, selected by the same method as the gold team recipients. . |
