Show Ice rink to reopen at Park Station Hotel For those who have their blades sharpened and are itching for a place to skate, there's a pleasant surprise due this weekend the opening of the Park Station Hotel ice rink. Laura Baker, currently Miss Summit County and a member of Park City's skating Baker family, will run the rink this winter The Park Station rink, unlike its sophisticated counterpart at the Park City Ski Resort Center, is really little more than a frozen pond. "We will need it to be cold enough to operate," said Baker. "Still, I'm excited about the opportunity to manage the rink." Just five feet smaller than the reduced Resort Center rink, the Park Station rink measures 55 by 105 feet. A small skate house will enable the management to make skate rentals available. Prices will be $2 a session for children, $3.50 a session for adults. Skate rental will cost $1. Hours for the rink will be weekdays from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 3 to 9 p.m. "It will be nice to have a second rink in town for the times it's just too busy at the Resort for locals to skate. I hope they'll come here," said Baker. Other Bakers will be helping out at the rink. "(My sister) Monet will probably help teach here, and my brother Adam, too." Weather permitting, the rink will open Dec. 15 in the center courtyard of the Park Station Hotel on Park Avenue. |
