Beaver Creek Ski Trail . : The U.S. Forest Service maintains approximately 10 miles of cross-' country ski trails in the Uinta Mountains six miles east of Kamas on Highway 150. The five-mile Beaver Creek Ski Trail, the two-mile Pine Valley Loop and the one-mile Loop Trail are groomed every Friday. Several other trails are marked with signs and maintained as snow conditions permit. There is no charge to use the trails. For more information call the forest service office at 783-41138. Piute Creek Cross Country ' Piute Creek Outfitters and Cross Country Touring Center conducts guided tours over 29 kilometers of trails in the foothills of the Uintas f near Kamas. Avalanche Information Travel through the back country in the Wasatch Mountains can be extremely dangerous. Before skiing any graded, ungroomed terrain call the Avalanche Information Center at 364-1581. As of Wednesday is reported 12 inches of new snow throughout most of the northern Wasatch Mountains and low avalanche danger except in steep gulleys or narrow chutes. Back country conditions, however, can change rapidly so be sure to call for updated avalanche warnings. |
