Show IPIlfiee Winter means ski thefts, condo burglaries The Park City Police Department spent a routine ski-season week running down six reports of ski thefts and numerous thefts and burglaries from condominiums. Park City Police received a theft report from Mike Jones on Jan. 21 . According to Jones, numerous items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the Park City Resort Center. Listed as missing are one pair of cow boy boots valued at $75, a $20 necklace, a sweater worth $10 and $10 in cash. Russ Moore, of GHB Construction, Construc-tion, reported a theft from a construction site in Deer Valley on Jan. 23. According to Moore, a $614 Thermador dishwasher was stolen from th ' Mwnnnprip Condomi niums sometime between Jan. 18 and Jan. 21. A Ventura, California man, T.B. . Blissit. told police on Jan. 21 that a burglary had occured at his Cresent Kidge condominium. According to li e report, two ski suits valued at $400 and a racoon coat worth $4,000 were stolen from a locked storage closet. Police arrested a Salt Lake City man Jan. 20 for driving on a suspended driver's license. Ralph P. Robinson, 1939 E. 2100 South, was booked into Summit County Jail in Coalville after police stopped him for speeding. They also found two failure-to-appear warrents outstanding outstand-ing on Robinson. Another Salt Lake City resident, ' Janshid Akhavan, 1534 University Village, was arrested for driving on a suspended license Jan. 20. He was also booked into county jail. Stephanie Strohl reported to police that a Barrecrafter ski rack had been stolen from her car while it was parked on Iron Horse Road. It is valued at $65. ' A case of forgery is on the police blotter for Jan. 17. According to the report, Johnny L Lamm, Magna, Utah, mistakenly left a check made out in his name, at the Top Stop store on Utah Highway 224. The check was later cashed by someone who apparently forged Lamm's name. The value of the check was not listed. Police have a suspect in the case. A 49-year-old Park City man was arrested Jan. 17 for public intoxication intoxica-tion and lewdness. According to the police report, officers observed a staggering man on Main Street. The 1 suspect allegedly unzipped his pants and began urinating as police approached. He was booked into the county jail. Margo Shirley, Summit Park, told police on Jan. 16 that $135 worth of goods were stolen from her car while it was parked at Butko's Chevron on Park Avenue during the previous weekend. Fifth Circuit Court Thomas Luke Higgins, ParkWest, pleaded quilty to DUI Jan. 18 in Judge Michael K. Burton's Firth Circuit Court. Charges of disorderly conduct and giving false information to a police officer were dismissed. Higgins was fined $555 and sentenced to 60 days in jail. The judge stayed 46 days of the sentence. Vince Rogers, 245 E. Third South. Salt Lake City pleaded guilty to DUI Jan. 18 in Fifth Circuit Court. Charges of attempting to bribe a police officer were dismissed but Rogers was ordered to pay $200 in court 'costs for the charge. Judge Burton fined Rogers $555 and sentenced him to a two-day community-service work project. I |
