Show Barnes named as EMS chairman The county's Emergency Medical System committee met recently to take further steps toward forming its structure. The group, meeting at Park City's county office building, named resident Dr. Rick Barnes as its chairman. The group decided the EMS Council should consist of 13 community representatives from the health or safety fields. These include the county health director; four representatives of ambulance companiesone com-paniesone each from Coalville, Kamas, Park City and Heber's Wasatch Hospital; the medical director from Holy cross, the area's resource hospital; three fire department representatives one each from Coalville, Kamas and Park City; and police representatives from the county and Park City. The panel also includes two other people. Each is chairman of a committee associated with the EMS Council. One is the chairman of the EMS executive committee of physicians, a post currently held by Dr. Robert Evers. The second is the chairman of an Advanced Life Support committee, formed to regularly review ambulance calls. The current chairman is Holy Cross administrator Cindy English. Dr. Michael Romney, director of the Holy Cross emergency systems, said ambulance protocols would be discussed at the next EMS meeting. He also noted that non-Holy Cross physician Bruce Dooley is a member of the EMS executive panel and was invited to sit on the Life Support committee. |
