Show Planners OK streets plan On June 27 the Park City Planning Commission unanimously recommended recom-mended the Streets Master Plan to City Council. But they also agreed with Commissioner Ruth Gezelius on the need to guard against heavy traffic in Old Town. A revision, suggested by Gezelius, said that traffic would be limited on Ontario and Marsac Avenues to preserve the town's historic character. charac-ter. This consideration would be taken into account in planning any traffic patterns. Gezelius said she disliked wording in the plan that seemed to say Ontario and Marsac would be major roads leading to the southern end of Deer Valley. Gezelius, a Prospect Avenue resident, said, "I listen to brakes enough as it is already. And I think of Park Avenue traffic coming up those streets." City Planning Director Bill Ligety said he realizes the pressures of new traffic, but the plan could serve as an opportunity to save Old Town. "By putting it on a freeway, you will not save it," said Gezelius. The Streets Master Plan proposes major roadways for the city and shows what rights-of-way must be obtained for the roads. |
