Show IPapflnc IHlepaDirit Assaults, loud parties occupy police blotter The Park City Police Department spent the greater part of the week quieting loud parties and investigating investigat-ing minor traffic accidents. In addition, two assaults were reported and one DUI arrest was made. On June 29, Peter Simpson reported to the Park City Police that he was assaulted by Skip Schirf. According to Simpson's report, Schirf came to his residence at the Windrift Condominiums. Simpson said that Schirf complained about something Simpson had allegedly said to Schirf 's. wife. Schirf then punched Simpson in the eye and the two began scuffling. No arrests have been made. On June 28, Michael Iindskov reported that Ed Sorenson assaulted him in the parking lot of the Burger King. According to the report, Sorenson claimed that Iindskov was making overtures to his wife. Iindskov denied the claim. Both men are employees of Burger King. Iindskov broke his glasses and received a fat lip in the exchange. Max Rosenfeld reported to the Park City Police on June 29 that someone had put an unknown substance in the gas tank of his 1980 Volkswagen while it was parked at Park Meadows Plaza. Damage to the car is estimated at $1,500. On June 28, Ed Bowers reported that his Minolta camera was lost or stolen near the junction of Kearns Boulevard and Utah Highway 224. The camera was in a tan camera bag which also contained a flash attachment. The gear is valued at $400. On July 3, Marty Polychronis reported that someone had taken $136 from the cash register at the Gazebo at the Park Meadows Golf Course. Police have no suspects. A Park City man was arrested for DUI July 2 after Park City police officers saw him driving on a closed road near Snow Country Drive. The suspect failed field sobriety tests and was booked into County Jail on DUI and driving on a suspended license. Fifth Circuit Court Lewis Howard of Midway was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $500 in Judge Larry Keller's Fifth Circuit Court June 29 for assault on a police officer and public intoxication. All but four days of the jail sentence was suspended but Keller ordered Howard not to set foot in Park City for one full year. Richard Emmit Meehan of Park City was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $299 for DUI in Fifth Circuit Court June 29. The jail sentence will be suspended upon payment of the fine. Meehan was placed on six months probation and ordered to pay an additional $100 to the state victim restitution fund and $150 for alcohol treatment programs. Rex Steven Pilkington, Clearfield, was also found guilty of DUI in Judge Keller's Court on June 29. Pilkington was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $299. His jail sentence will be suspened upon payment of the fine. Pilkington was also ordered to pay $100 into the victim restitution fund and $150 into the fund for alcohol treatment programs. Michael B. Jensen, 1100 East 14th South, Salt Lake City, was found guilty of assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct in Fifth Circuit Court June 29. He was sentenced to six months in jail and fined $299. The jail sentence was reduced to 30 days and he was ordered to pay $4,281 to Stein Eriksen's Lodge in restitution. |
