Show Athletic Club courts players with clinics by Randy Hanskat Whatever your age or skill, De Fisher wants to get you on the tennis court. Fisher, tennis teaching pro at the Prospector Athletic Club, has designed a variety of programs for young and old. "I'd like to see tennis become a bigger part of the program at Prospector," Fisher said. "People make the mistake of thinking our courts are open only three months a year, but that's not true. There are really six months in the tennis season." Fisher has implemented a program of clinics designed to increase in-crease interest in tennis at the club. For adults beginning and intermediate inter-mediate clinics will be held each month. The two-week clinics cost $20 for Prospector members ($40 for non-members) and consist of four one-hour classes. Fisher will group young people in one class, unless the skill levels are highly diverse. Fisher said she likes to keep classes small, usually around eight in each. Costs are $20 and $40 for eight 45-minute sessions spread over four weeks. Fisher said that although most of the 50 or so people in her classes are beginners, all classes concentrate on basic skills. "I want students to get to a point where they start enjoying the game as quickly as possible," she said. For those who want individual attention, at-tention, Fisher also gives private lessons at all skill levels. Prices are the same for members and non-members. non-members. In addition to classes, Fisher has organized a businessperson's league and a mixed doubles league which play once a week. Results are kept throughout the season, as in tournament tour-nament play. Although both leagues play doubles, the mixed doubles league is especially for singles, Fisher said. Players get together every Friday afternoon for a TGIF party and racquet play. In July Fisher plans to hold a club tournament in a round-robin format for various skill levels. Dates have not yet been set.
