Show More chips for Fields with purchase of Famous Cookies Fields Financial Corporation, the parent company of Mrs. Fields Cookies, announced Monday the purchase of Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Company, a New Jersey-based cookie retail chain with 70 stores in several Eastern states. Richard O. Mueller, executive vice president of Fields, declined to release terms of the sale, but said the newly-acquired stores, concentrated concen-trated from the mid-Atlantic to New England, will continue to operate under the Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Company name. "This move allows us to achieve our goal of expanded market penetration and clearly establishes us as the industry leader," Mueller said. "This affiliation results in the combination of the two quality-oriented quality-oriented fresh-bake operations in the country." Frank Bonanno and Vince Bonomo will continue as president and executive vice president of Famous Cookies. Other management and employees of the company will also remain. Bonanno and Bonomo said the most important consideration in the sale of their company was aligning with an organization whose standards stan-dards they admire and whose operating philosophy is compatible with theirs. Mrs. Fields Cookies has 150 retail outlets in the United States, primarily in the West. |
