Currently under construction construct-ion are two 75-foot by 40-foot pools and a "baby pool" strictly for infants. One of the larger pools runs from four to 12 feet deep and will have a diving board. The other large pool is a constant four-feet deep and used mainly for swimming instruction. The pools are open to the general public for swimming instruction only. The recreational recreat-ional use is restricted to owners of Red Pine condominiums, condomi-niums, their guests and those purchasing the limited membership offered. "As I analyze the situation here in Park City there is a shortage of opportunites for the young people to learn swimming and swimming is one of the best lifetime sports for all ages," said Harold Buckner the recreation recreat-ion director for Red Pine Chalets. "To be able to swim or drown-proof yourself your-self and take care of yourself in a water situation is important. "We are offering the lesson program for kids as a community service and have four certified, qualified instructors in-structors available," Buckner Buck-ner added. There will be 'separate classes for each ability level taught each hour. The classes, offered for children ages five through 14, will be limited to 10 students or less. A complete course consists " of 12 classes that meet two days per week and cost $15 for the first child of the family enrolled and $12 for each additional child. Two one-hour classes will meet Mondays and Wednes-; Wednes-; days from 9 to 11 a.m. and . two will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. , The '"' classes for babes-in-. ."-'arm's to four years-old will V. meet Mondays and Wednes- days from 10 to 10:45 a.m. " "In its initiation a few club memberships will be sold for swimming, tennis, racquet-ball racquet-ball - when the courts are completed late in December or January and members will , have sauna and whirlpool piivileges." Buckner said. "Since we have 184 condominium condo-minium units now we are ; going to limit the membership member-ship to no" more than 20." Memberships will cost a family S300 per year and individuals $150. The only activities open throughout the year are the sauna, whirlpool and racquetball courts when completed. The tentative completion date for the three pools is July 6 but Harold Buckner, the swimming program director, di-rector, was skeptical about the completion die. "The weather has got us two weeks behind where we'd like to be. I think we'll be pretty close to finishing .on time and at worst the delay may be a week." Buckner said. |
