Show - - o -- ir1 What is it, that we're living for? Applause, applause... Oh, 1 admit it comes to use all in different ways, but let's face it, there's nothing like the beat of applause to let us know we have done a good job. I guess it starts as children when for some unexplained reason we squeal with delight and clap our hands together to show approval, surprise and excitement. We learn early to like the sound. There are this week, polite hand clapping occasions and complete standing ovations. You decide... Perhaps because so very many of us put on poor Cary Grant imitations when describing des-cribing the Main Street privpic club, as Jody's, Jody's, Jody's, owner Jody Bernolfo was forced to change the name of his establishment. However, the Black Pearl sounds like the name of a bar in bad Bogie films. Or perhaps the name of a dive around Polk and Castro streets in San Francisco. Fran-cisco. I expect to see ethnic greeks in leather jackets smoking unfiltered Camels and arriving in gas guzzling macho machines. No designer design-er label jeans or pretty attire here. In fact, I even heard a rumor Bernolfo was looking not to hire his Samoan bodyguard this year, but rather trying to hire Tatto from the Fantasy Island Show to greet guests at the door. . " .. Seriously, I know this popular watering hole will flourish despite it's -some- what seamy new name. In fact, now that Jody has officially re-opened I plan to slip in there this week for lunch. I'll be easy to spot, I'll be sitting under the swamp fan with a white straw hat and smoking the unfiltered Camels and carefully applauding applau-ding the surroundings... Back on the home front, i seem to have the perfect Park City robins no early bird catches the worm. These birds are so entirely laid back they munch on the lawn all the day long with great success. Maybe it's just my imagination but I swear I can hear my cats quietly applauding ap-plauding the robins choice of worm heaven.' I only hope I can keep kit tys inside enough so that the robins , don't ascend to real place... Other winged creatures of the week are Richard and Susan Dudley who leave Thursday for' Washington . D.C. A bit of business and pleasure and hopefully better bet-ter weather than at home. Always on the job, P.R. person - Katherine Janka is providing the Dudleys with a list of A: restaurants to visit in her former hometown. The list is rumored to include establishments that rate standing room only through the standing ovation variety.:.' va-riety.:.' - Variety .magazine and other show biz props are ready- on " stage for the Park City ..Players final performance of . For those of you who figured out in the beginning of this column riot .. only: the show's title "but a line from one of the gypsies in the play you've been waiting I'm sure for the plug.
