Gail McBride said she is planning to show a slide presentation of the state tournament tourna-ment at the high school during the Winter Sports Banquet, April 8. The girls gymnastics team at Park City High School completed their strongest season ever by becoming the top team in 1-A schools in the state. Coach Gail McBride took ten members of the team to the state gymnastics tournament in Richfield Saturday and Park City finished in fourth place, competing against not only 1-A schools, but 2-A schools as well. Teams that finished in the top three spots (Lehi, Richfield, and Wayne) are 2-A schools. 17 teams went to the state tournament and included 135 competitors. Lori Duerner, a sophomore at Park High, took first place in class 2 uneven parallel bars. Class 2 requires more complex gymnastic exercises than class 3 competition. competi-tion. Also in class 2, senior Barbara Uriarte finished with a third place during optional vault exercises. Lisa Thaller, who is only in the ninth grade, won an impressive third place in floor exercise competition and also received a second place in "All Around," which is based on an aggregate score. Fellow teamate Connie Hamilton, another freshman on the team, finished close behind Lisa with a fourth place in floor exercise and a third place in "All Around."
