By Brig LeSueur Wonder who those two guys are dressed in suits and white shirts walking all over town? No, they're not with Fuller Brush, and they're no solicitors. They are two missionaries with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (Mormons) newly assigned to the Park City area. David Merle Kirkland from Big Spring Texas and Steven Nelson Long from Poplar Bluff, Missouri are part of the 180-strong Utah Mission of the Church which extends to 25,000 missionaries worldwide. They spend two years without pay, using their own funds or aid from family and friends, going from door to door and town to town appealing to everyone to listen to a message of the Restored Gospel of Christ. For those interested they leave a copy of the Book of Mormon which is an account of ancient America and Christ's visit to the American continent. The missio naries have found a good reception in Park City with many people willing to listen and converse on any subject. One obstacle they have found is a lack of knowledge concerning missionary missio-nary work. They do not solicit funds and do not accept donations, dona-tions, but are here only to proseletyze. They have found a great aid in the members of the Park City and Snyderville wards of the Church already established. establish-ed. They are at present working with the members in preparation for an Open House for the Park City community to be held April 20th for everyone interested in information about the Mormon Church. The Sunday Meeting schedule of the two wards located at 1113 Woodside are; Park City: Priesthood Priest-hood Meeting 8:00 a.m., Sunday School 9:30 a.m., Sacrament Meeting 5:30 p.m. Snyderville: Priesthood Meeting 11:00 a.m., Sunday School 12:30 p.m., Sacrament Meeting 2:00 p.m. |
