Show iii A 'ir h Wess Jolley, Brenda Bensch and Kerri Gunderson Forensics Team Excells at State The forensics team at Park City High School traveled to Brigham Young University last Thursday for the state forensics tournament and finished tied with Duchesne for fifth place. Forensics coach, Brenda Bensch, said it was the best performance by the Park High team ever on the state Ipvp.1. "To my knowledge," she said, "it's the first time we've ever placed." In the Extemporaneous Speaking Speak-ing category, Wess Jolley received receiv-ed a superior rating and took second place, while Kerri Gunderson Gun-derson received an excellent rating during Oratory competition and also took home a second place. In other areas of competition, Susan Mann and Mike Jarvis received excellent ratings and Seaton Prince, a good rating, for Impromptu Speaking. John Newland competed in Legislative Forum and was awarded a good rating from the judges. ' Gavin Packard and Steve Mann both had excellent ratings in Extemporaneous Speaking. Brenda Bensch took 11 members mem-bers of the forensics team to the state meet. "I was so excited just taking that many to state," she smiled. Altamont finished in first place with 60 points; St. Joseph, second with 47 points; third, Kanab, 33; fourth, East Carbon, 28; and fifth Park City and Duchesne 22 points. The wining Park High students received certificates for their impressive accomplishments at the state meet. x |
