Show U.S. Men's Coach Named Dave Durrance, 32, from Dartmouth College in Hanover NH, has been named a men's coach with the U.S. Alpine Ski Team. He will begin working with the team July 1. As men's coach, Durrance will work with Head Men's Coach Harald Schoenhaar on the World Cup race circuit. His main responsibility will be assisting Schoenhaar with the meri's World Cup Downhill group. Originally from Aspen CO, Durrance has been the Alpine coach at Dartmouth for the past three years. In 1977, Dartmouth tied for the NCAA title. A 1968 graduate of the University of Denver where he was an outstanding skier, Durrance finished fin-ished second as NCAA Skimeister in '68. He competed in the U.S. World Cup races from 1967-70, and raced on the World Pro Tour during 1971-72. Durrance was head coach of the Alyeska Ski Club in Alaska' in 1974-75. He has been a guest coach at U.S. Alpine development camps. |
