Marsac Junior Olympics Students at the elementary school competed in the "Marsac Junior Olympics" last week at Washington Park and participated participat-ed in over 20 sporting events, ranging from 100 yard dash to three-legged race. The first, second, third and fourth graders received ribbons Monday during an awards assembly. Competition was open to all students and the top four winners in each category were named for girls and boys in all four grades. Here is a list of the winners in top running events: 100 YARD DASH: 4th grade, girls 1) Erin Bolton 2) Kara Glieden 3) Stephanie Holcomb 4) Connie Clark. 4th grade, boys 1) Greg King 2) Eric Low 3) Curtis Burns' 4) Skipper Thomas. 3rd grade, girls 1) Cheryl Burns 2) DeLonna Sinclair 3) Becky Sproule 4) Kenna Dean. 3rd grade, boys 1) Mark Von Huven 2) Kenny Wade 3) Andy Miller 4) Aaron Thompson. 50 YARD DASH: 4th grade, -girls 1) Cori Ann Martinez 2) Rhondi Totten 3) Margie Evans 4) Kristen Anderson. 4th grade, boys 1) Pat Jarosz 2) Billy Clark 3) Mike Brose 4) Nick Schapper. 3rd grade girls 1) Bobbie Byer 2) DeVonna Sinclair 3) Erin Winchester 4) Monika Froelke. 3rd grade boys 1) Jason Robinson 2) Steven Williams Will-iams 3) Eric Perry 4) Robert Jones. 2nd gTade, girls 1) Jo Jo Gurski and Gina Glenne (tied) 2) Rachelle Argylle 3) Kim Gates. 2nd grade, boys 1) Clint Weaver 2) Mark Dearden 3) Brad Holmes 4) Sean McAllister. 1st grade girls 1) Nicole Hughes 2) Katie Wade 3) Brandi Glover 4) Tammy Richardson. 1st grade boys 1) Shawn McAllister 2) Bubba Leatham 3) Colin Thompson 4) Tim Gates. The remaining events included 200 yard shuttle relay, 25 yard dash, 75 yard shuttle relay, standing broad jump, basketball throw, softball throw, balloon toss, giant stride, three-legged race, wheel barrow race, javelin throw, "feed the elephant," spud race, obstacle race, "the clean sweep," shot put, and scissor race. Students and faculty took a break in the middle of the busy day to have a hot dog lunch. The all-day Olympics also included a soccer game between fourth graders and the adults. The Marsac Junior Olympics was organized by Sandy Sourther-lin, Sourther-lin, Sharon Nunez and Barbara Burns. |
