Show GILLETTE TO CALL A SPECIAL SESSION. Sncramcnto, Col.. Aug. 23. Unless there is a decided- chan?e in Governor Gover-nor Glllett's feelings In the next twenty-four hours, he will Issue a call for an extra session of the ttate legislature legis-lature some time today. This session will be called for the purposo of adopting adopt-ing resolutions to be submitted to the voters of the state at the November election, by which the state constitution constitu-tion be amendeL so that a special tax of four cents on each $110 can be Imposed Im-posed for a period of five years for exposition purposes alone. This is in furtherance of the plan of bringing the Panama-Pacific International exposition ex-position to San Francisco and will net about $5,000,000 to Ihe fund. Another resolution will provide for the changing of tho charter of San Francisco, so that the municipality can Increase Us bonded indebtedness and raise $".,000,000 for the fund. |
