Show SIBLEY IS ARRESTED Would Be Congrcssiona' Candidate Charged With Conspiracy Franklin, Pa , Aug. 23. Jos C. Sibley, who withdrew aa a canildate for congress on the Republican ticket In the twenty-eighth Pennsylvania district was arrested late last night ou a warrant charging "conspiracy to debauch voters." Mr. Sibley was released on his recognizance to appear before Justice or the peace, Perry, at Warren, Pa., Aug. 26. The arrest occurred a few hours after Mr. Sibley had announced his withdrawal from tho congressional race. According to his own figures Hied in obedience to the legislative act requiring a public statement of a candidate's account, Mr. Sibley spent $17,000 In Warren county to gain his nomination and In the entire en-tire district $32,500, which. accorJIng to population, averaged $4 a vote. In the warrant under which Mr. S;bley was arrested three other prominent prom-inent politicians In the twenty-eighth district aro also charged with con-eplracy con-eplracy to debauch voters. They aro Charles Crondall. D. M. Howard and Geo. M. Dunn. |
